On Monday 13 August, some of your Year 11 and Year 9 students participated in the 3D Print-A-Car Challenge at Quantum Victoria.

We had two teams and three cars to qualify.

Our teams were “The Predator”, with Ruei-Jia (Jessy) Tsai and Gemma Masucci, and “Archilochus Colubris”, with Mukul Chodhary, Charlie Fratto, Noah Lucin and Victor Huang.

We raced our cars and were timed on our speed and reaction. We were also judged on our folios which document our design process.

Out of the 17 schools trying to qualify on the day, both of our teams qualified, and we are now going to the finals.

Throughout the day, not only did we race our cars, but we participated in other workshops such as programming a robot and creating an app to calculate reaction time.

It was a great experience for all of us, especially for those of us who went for the first time.

We put in a lot of work and effort and are so glad that it paid off. We are all looking forward to participating in the finals, in late November, and hope for the best.

Thanks to Mr. Sukkar and Tom Naumovski for their help in the preparation for this and for taking us on the day.
